General FAQ & RAQ

Find common and not so common questions about the Gravesbury Park community and our supernatural roleplay mechanics below.

How do I begin my journey?

Start by arriving at the Gravesbury Park Landing Zone.  Join the OOC group and walkthrough the  purple glowing stone portal to explore the town, Gravesbury Park.

What supernatural races are
allowed?

Gravesbury Park welcomes a wide range of supernatural races, including Vampires, Witches, Fae, Shifters, Ghosts, Humans and most recently Aliens with unusual abilities.  Apply on the website.

Can I get extra prims as a renter?

Yes. Residents can pay for extra prims (ie: for rezzing a vehicle) Contact one of the staff to inquire and set this up.

How many characters can I
apply as?

Three characters are allowed per Secondlife account. Although we will not police it, please keep your characters/stories separate to avoid metagaming, keep your OOC knowledge separate from IC. 👍

Can I fly in the sim if my race doesn’t have flying abilities?

No. You may only fly if you’re a vampire who can turn into a bat, or who turned back from a bat and for 4 hours following has bat wings to use to fly around with but otherwise is in humanoid vampire form. Also, shifters that turn into a flying animal of some sort, or a fae that has wings can fly. This goes for races of aliens that have wings or other means of flying too. Ghosts can float/levitate. Witches cannot fly however, even on brooms. :P

Can I DJ at the local radio station WGRV?

Absolutely! Apply for the position by NC and talk to the staff about getting your stream details put into the land when needed. Same for DJing at music and nightclubs.

What is the commitment level?

We welcome everyone from casual explorers to hardcore immersive roleplayers. Certain  roles may require more consistent activity.

Is public nudity or sex allowed?

Yes, to public sex, and yes you can be nude when engaged in sexual activities in public. However, we only ask that there are no full time nudists on the sim, just at the nude beach area. And of course, when exotic dancing, avatars can take off their clothes.

Can characters get pregnant in Gravesbury Park?

Yes characters may get pregnant but they must keep their mesh babies in their residences. No actual avatars playing infants or children allowed. Only witches, humans, shifters and fae may impregnate each other, although shifters can impregnate humans, fae can impregnate humans, witches, shifters etc but one thing to note is that fae cannot get impregnated by any other races besides their own. The other way around? Absolutely, creating fae/human hybrids is totes possible. Some aliens may impregnate humans, witches, and shifters as well, and as for the other way around, well, we’ll leave that to your call and your imagination.

How can I rent a shop?

Enquiries about shop rentals can be directed to Byrne or Jeremy, drop a NC in the mailbox at the landing point or email.

As a fae, can I make up what abilities I have?

Yep, pretty much, although we encourage you to be consistent with the folklore that exists out there about your species or type of fae. Glamour is something all fae can do, but only more ancient and powerful fae like Sidhe nobility for example can pull off more advanced forms of glamour, so we ask you try to be realistic. Otherwise, go crazy, but don’t be overpowered/powergaming please, respectfully.

Interested in a residence?

Check out available rentals at the landing point rental kiosk and TP to the location. Once you have paid for the minimum rental, you should get a group invite to the estate group so you can rez.

You must wear the tag to rez. If you didnt get an invite, contact staff for help.

                             Sim Code of Conduct

1. No Metagaming, Godmodding, or Powergaming is permitted when roleplaying in Gravesbury Park.

Metagaming — Using information your character could not realistically know, such as something learned from another player, Discord, or an OOC conversation, to influence your character’s actions.

Godmodding — Controlling another player’s character without their permission, such as deciding that your attack automatically hits, that their character is injured, or dictating how they react.

Powergaming — Giving your character unrealistic or unfair advantages, abilities, or outcomes that overpower other characters or leave them little opportunity to respond.

In short: Metagaming abuses information, godmodding abuses control, and powergaming abuses power.

2. Personal Conflict Between Players

   OOC Conflict & Harassment

  • Personal conflicts should be handled privately and OOCly between the players involved.

  • Do not drag uninvolved players into personal disputes.

  • If someone is being disruptive or harassing you, mute or block them.

  • If harassment continues through alts or other means, contact Gravesbury Park staff/admins.

  • Staff will step in when harassment persists, but personal disagreements are the responsibility of the players involved.

3. No sharing of chat logs is permitted within the sim between two players without the given consent of both players.

4. No child avatars or underage looking avatars of any kind, as well as no furry avatars (as in full anthro/cartoony style furries).

5. Respect each other’s boundaries and limits as roleplayers, ask the other player about them first before engaging in a scene of a sensitive nature that could have potential triggers for people.

6. Two-Post Rule

  • Any action directly affecting another character should take two posts to complete.

  • Post One: Attempt the action. Describe what your character tries to do without deciding the outcome for the other player.

  • Post Two: After the other player has had a chance to respond, describe the result based on their reaction and what reasonably happens next.

  • Never automatically decide that you hit, injure, grab, restrain, bite, kill, or otherwise affect another character.

  • The defending player must also respond reasonably—constant dodging, immunity, or avoiding all consequences is just another form of godmodding.

  • When in doubt, communicate OOCly and agree on the outcome.

7. No bigotry of any forms tolerated: racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and all forms of prejudice and hatred for others just because they are different from you. We are a highly LGBTQIA + positive sim, please respect that.

Owner, builder, and resident old-timer of Gravesbury Park, Byrne has been RPing since the days of yore—long enough to have watched more sims come and go than she cares to admit.

Gravesbury was built for RPers who’ve been around the block, stepped away, or simply got tired of all the fuss.

No HUDs, no factions, no rulebook the size of a phone directory—just a chill, welcoming place to dust off your character, meet some wonderfully strange people, and get back to telling stories.

equinox-jeremy1024.png

Equinox, aka Jeremy, is Gravesbury’s Admin,Discord Manager and resident fix-it guy.

Whether you need help with an application, have questions about rentals, or somehow still can’t find the Beach, Jeremy is your man. He helps keep the gears of Gravesbury turning and is usually happy to lend a hand when something—or someone—needs sorting out.

You may spot him around town in his suspiciously hot handyman attire, looking like he’s on his way to fix a leaky pipe. Don’t be shy—he’s friendly, approachable, and probably knows where the toolbox is.

Dorian is a Mod. (And a Rocker.)

Seasoned slacker, musician, and longtime RPer with a penchant for sleaze, coke, bad decisions, and occasionally the taste of blood.

Whoever he’s playing, Dorian is generally chill, thinks you’re hilarious, and is happy to let the chaos unfold—though he’ll step in if things come to actual fisticuffs.

Questions, RP quandaries, or general Gravesbury confusion? Shoot him an IM in-world or drop him an email.
